The Irish Living History Of Central Ohio

Our group's time period is 950AD to about 1014AD Ireland. This is the time of High King Brian Boru.  It is also known as the Viking Age. We demonstrate crafts, cooking and weaponry that were used in early medieval Ireland.

In 1998 the Irish Living History Society was formed at the Ancient Order of Hibernian's Tara Hall Pub. The pub, which was located at St. Patrick's Church social hall was a gathering place for people with varying interests in Irish culture. Musicians, The Gaelic League (Irish language enthusiasts), historians and craftsmen could all be found there on a Friday evening.

Also to be found there were people who were involved with the Dublin Irish Festival (Dublin, Ohio) The Dublin Irish Fest is held the first weekend in August at Coffman Park , off Emerald Parkway in Dublin (a suburb of Columbus). This festival was the perfect venue for our reenactment group. Over the past eight years this festival has grown to become the second largest festival in the U.S. drawing 100,000 visitors in 2009. Participating with us in the DIF is the Lost Viking Hoard from Ashville, Ohio.
